Bubblebubs - YAY!

I couldn't resist the sale that was on at bubblebubs recently - just had to grab a couple more since these would have to be one of my favourite nappies. Heres some pics:

I got 2 x Larges & 1 x Medium (the green one). Just cause Jet can fit into the larges now, even though they are a little big & i want to have some nappies that still fit him when hes bigger. Think I got a bit carried away since i ended up with the same crocodiles on two of them, but still! I LOVE the orange space one - cute!

Heres some action shots & no Jet isn't crawling yet, but if i put him on his hands & knees he stays there long enough for me to snap a few shots off ;)

Technical Difficulty

Blueberrylicious

I got my Blueberry nappies today - YAY!!! (but why is rocky always home when i get fluffy mail - busted!). They were buy 2 get 1 free & postage was only $2 because their postage calculator was broken - bargain!

They are so lush. i got 3 OSFA (one size fits all) pockets, two minky & one PUL with snaps.

Heres some pics:

These are the inserts. The first pic is of it un-snapped & the second pic is snapped & ready to stuff. Great system, just one long insert that you fold into 3 & snap to the chosen size (depending on if your stuffing it into a S, M or L nappy.

Heres a pic of the range of sizes the nappy has. You just snap down the front. I have two other pockets that do this too - the BumGenious & the Haute, but these ones do it the neatest i think.

Second Attempt - Oh Dear!!!

I finished my second attempt at a soaker. I was attempting the Ottobre Soaker Pattern, the only thing is, about 20 rows in i realised i was using the wrong needle size & it looked way to skinny so i figured (you know...with my wealth of knitting experience...having completed one soaker already) that id modify the pattern. Then i got bored of garter stitch & decided id alternate between garter & stockingette stitch. Well... the results were kinda interesting. The main prob is that somehow in my very ingenious calculations i managed to not include extra stitches on the back side of the soaker so its kinda too high in the front & to low at the back. Anyway, heres some pics & my pattern:

My Dodgy Soaker Pattern:
4mm Knitting Needles Used.
*Cast on 46 Stitches
*Work 17 Rows Ribbing (k1 p1)
*Work 12 Rows Garter Stitch (Knit every row)
*Work 12 Rows Stockingette Stitch (Knit one row Purl one row)
*Work 12 Rows Stockingette Stitch but do the following, Decrease the second & third row by 4 stitches (2 each end) & decrease rows 4 - 9 by two stitches (one each end)
*Work 12 Rows Garter Stitch
*Work 12 Rows Stockingette Stitch but do the following: Increase rows 3 - 12 by 4 stitches (2 each end - there will be 66 stitches on the needle by the end of the increasing)
*Work 12 Rows Garter Stitch
*Work 12 Rows Stockingette Stitch
*Work 12 Rows Garter Stitch
*Work 17 Rows Ribbing
If i was going to attempt my dodgy pattern again then i would put more rows at the back & probably start with stockingette stitch rather than garter. But....i know i was kidding last time, but this one actually works really well as a beanie, its super warn & this time i cast off with 9mm needles so the ribbing is more stretchy (nice & loose around the head) so i may just keep it as a house hat for these cooler months, or i might just frog it (see I'm using the technical jargon already!) & make something else. Photo Time

Thought id share a couple of cute pics!

just liked this one, jets sitting in his high chair thinggy - its one of those ones that just hooks straight onto the table. Hes got his little tommy tippy thing that i shove food into & he sucks & bites - this is the way he gets the majority of his solids at the moment.

Ohhhhhh - now what could be cuter than a sleeping baby? a sleeping daddy & baby combo thats what! Daddy was "helping" jet get to sleep by lying down with him (even though rocky was snoring before jets eyes were even closed). They are still asleep now, its been a whole hour & 15 mins which is just about jets maximum daily sleep time, so im sure they will be up soon.

Whats this you say? putting gel in a babys hair to spike it up?!? Nope, its actually another use i discovered for breastmilk, spikes babies hair up great! how did i discover that? well, jet is going through that distracted phase at the moment & he keeps pulling off when he feeds, & one day i wasnt watching & he got saturated with breastmilk, well...i figured it was good for his skin anyway so i just kinda rubbed it in & hey presto - his hair went all spikey!

ok, thats it!

My Little Monkey

Heres some action shots of Jet sporting his new Monkey Doodlez & amber teething necklace:

They are both size Medium Long Rise. I'm told they are quite large sizes but they seem to fit ok, the medium would have been a bit trimmer but i wanted them to fit for quite a while - Jet is already 9.8kg & this size is meant to fit 9 - 15.9 kilos. Heres some shots of the fit:

Of course, he pooped in it straight away, but the second one i stuck on him was there for about 4 hours & there were no leaks or anything, they seem really good! Very trim, a great nappy to have in the nappy bag. Who knows what fabulous combinations i will find when DH changes his nappy with them though, he cant believe that thats all there is, so I'm sure ill find lay in boosters or fitteds underneath or something.

Little Nose - So Much Snot!!!

Jet & I both have colds at the moment, its his first cold ever. I shouldnt complain i guess, he went 7 months without one so thats not too bad. But...OMG - how can such a little nose make so much snot, its just like a constant fountain dribbiling out a super sticky substance that would definetly give glue a run for its money!

Its Finished!!!

I finally finished my very first knitting project - YAY!!!

& although its not perfect i am very proud (as you will be able to tell by the million photos i have posted on it!).
I used Alice's Wool Soaker Pattern which was recomended as a good project to start with by some of the fantastic ladies at NC.

I had a few issues along the way. I couldnt quite get ribbing right because when i got to the end of the row id make sure i started again with the same stitch - but i eventually figured out what the difference between a purl & a knit stitch was (by looking at it) thanks to Knitting Help & realised that you have to knit the knit stitches & purl the purl ones.

I discovered that my ball of yarn had a join in it too which wasnt fun, so i then discovered felting which is fab.
I had to undo a couple of rows a few times for dropped stitches & just plain funny stuff going on. Think ive ended up with a couple of twisted stitches here & there.

The leg holes are a little doddgy due to my funny increasing - the right one is more stretchy than the left one.
The pattern says to crochet around them but i havent figured out how to do that yet - might do it later....maybe.

Thanks once again to all the fab ladies at nappycino that helped me out - not sure what i would do without you guys!!! (obviously not knit). Oh & one last pic - i figured it can always make a funny hat out of it if it doesnt work as a soaker ;)
