Inspiration

I don't know where this came from, think theres something similar on the front of a book (called the invitation - who would have guessed) - but i love it & wanted to share it with everyone. I'm not saying this is how i live my life - theres just something about it that stirs something deep within me.

The Invitation

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love for your dream for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon... I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain mine or your own without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful be realistic remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself, if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure yours and mine and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes.”

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Curbing my Spending Habit!

It has become apparent that I have an online shopping addiction. Sure, maybe its not as damaging as a drug, alcohol or gambling addiction...its actually rather fun..where was I? oh yeah, but its a problem none the less. So, to help curb my spending ive decided to write down the things i would like to buy on a list - not sure why & not sure if it will help, just seemed like a good idea at the time.

You will find my list at the right hand side of the screen (its called Curbing the Addiction - future purchases being considered). Ive named the thing i want, the approximate cost & the date that i wrote it on the list, ive also put a link to it if applicable. So not sure where ill go from here? maybe ill mark down when i actually buy it or if i decide not to? Maybe i can pay for it all with my google adds - lol, they've been on my blog for a couple of months now & i think ive earned a grand total of $18.36 woo hoo!

The first two items on the list are a vacuume cleaner (we have tiles so i guess its not a nessesity) & a book recomended by Judi on NC called "The Stitch and Bitch Handbook" - if i get it from fishpond then its a couple of bucks cheaper & if i buy another book then its free post - so ill have to think of another book i want & add that to the list too - hmmmm not sure if this list thing is working!

8 Things About Me

I was tagged by April & now i have to figure out what I'm going to write about :)

******
Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
******

Ok, this is mach #2 cause the first one I did was way to long!

1. I guess the first point should be that I'm indecisive, since this is my second attempt at this and all
2. My favourite colour is Purple, but I also love green at the moment & I love wearing them both together (just in case you hadn't guessed by the colours of my blog)!
3. I always feel like a bit of an outsider, like I don’t really fit in – probably cause I’m weird!!! :)
4. I love looking up at the sky through one of those big trees with the leaves that change colour in autumn – there’s just something about it!
5. When I was little I always wished there was a secret place I could go, where time would stop, where I could just relax in the grass by the water – sometimes I still do!
6. When jet cries & wont go to sleep – I eat chocolate, lots & lots of chocolate! Its my coping mechanism
7. Someone should start a shop-a-holics anonymous & I should join it!
8. I love my husband & our little boy more than anything in the whole world

Now to tag some unsuspecting bloggers - bwahahahahaha

Mad Mum of 3 - Donna
Robbo3 - Hayley - Done
Hunters Mum - Tina
(this will give you something to kick your blog off with!)
Bear Hug Mumma - Belinda
Melinda - already been tagged

Naughty I Am!!!!!

...but it feels soooo good!!! I couldn't help myself, i ordered an ergo through Brindabella Baby. Its the indigo one with critters lining & i also got the matching pouch thingy. So heres a pic of my ergo in action:

I absolutely LOVE my ergo & would highly recommend them to anyone! they are soooooo comfy. I'm sure none of my other slings are going to see the light of day now - at least not till i have another bub, i do like my baba sling but only for when they are little, jet is just way to heavy to be carried around in it now.

Oh...& thats not all i got! I also got a Bubba J T-Shirt for $1 that says "changing the world one nappy at a time" - its a size to small for jet but I'm sure ill use it for the next one. I also ordered 6m of Purple PUL & 2m of White PUL through a co-op that Emma runs so she sent them all together. The little pouch thingy is in this pic too & some free wipes that were thrown in which is a loverly idea.

Knitting Update

Heres an update on my first two knitting projects. Up the top is a soaker which i am 50 rows into (10 rows ribbing & 40 rows stockingette stitch) & at the bottom is a flutter scarf. The flutter (thats its name, its some fluffy stuff from lincraft) is pretty hard to knit with cause you cant really see what your doing, the good thing is that your mistakes don't show nearly as much!

Heres the soaker by itself:

& a close up of the knitting:

I think its possible that i miscounted the ribbing stitches & i might have 11 - oh well! cant be perfect right - i figure as long as i do it the same for the back it should be ok.

Present Pockets

I finally finished a couple of pockets that ive been making. Rocky'sI'mRocky's mum asked me to make them to give as a present to a friends daughter who is having a bub. Ive never made a nappy for anyone else & its rather stressful! I'm really only new to sewing so theres lots of things i suck at - especially leg elastic!!! anyway, they are all done & ready to go now. They both have fleece outers & inners with a hidden layer of PUL. I made some trifold inserts with the hemp fleece i just got from bubba earth - it feels so loverly!!! would make the best fittedsI'm, might have to give one a go! anyway, heres the pics:

Inserts:
Oh & i found an old MCN brochure from the ANN so I'm going to put that in with them:

A New Addiction???

Ive been knitting for all of about 5 mins & look at all the stuff ive got already!

I must have over 10 balls of yarn, hmmmm lets see 6 balls of flutter (that fluffy stuff to make scarfs out of) 4 balls of acrylic yarn thats a bit fluffy, 4 balls of wool (100grms each), 1 50grm ball of wool & one big ball of plain white acrylic stuff. I also already have 3 pairs of needles, well 4 if you count the ones i borrowed from my MIL & a crochet hook (no idea what to do with that yet!) as well as a pattern book from lincraft.

yep....i think knitting can officially be added to my list of addictions!

The two things on the bottom of the pic are my current projects. I'm making a scarf from the flutter stuff & attempting a soaker with one of the 100grm balls of wool. so far so good.

Hello Mr Postman

The postman has made a couple of visits in the past few days!

Firstly Hayley (Robbo3) & i ordered 'some' stuff from Bubba Earth. We got 5m each of hemp fleece (well....its like $18 a meter, but if you get 10m its only $10.50 so it cost us the same as just getting a couple of metres each really) & i got some overlocking thread, sewing machine needles, velcro, 2 ring slings (cause i need another sling) & some lastin - here it all is:

Then i got some stuff from a co-op. A couple of metres of black madden mills micro fleece (feels pruudy) & some bright red sherpa:

My Little Sweaty Head!

Jet was sleeping on my lap whilst lying on the breastfeeding pillow - check out the sweat (& yes it is all sweat not drool - i moved his head over before i took the pic)!

The Naughtiest, Yummiest, Scrummiest Brownies

Whilst reading through the latest threads on NappyCino i discovered one with a yummy brownie recipe on it posted by bec (mumtotwo).

I cooked it up & they are super yummy!!!

Heres the recipe:
  • 150gr butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa

Cream butter & sugar until light & fluffy. Add eggs 1 @ a time on low speed. Mix through flour & cocoa. Bake @ 150 degrees for 25-35 mins.

OMG - I'm Knitting!!!

Ive started my first project - you know, something real from an actual pattern! Its a soaker from Alice's Wool Cover Pattern. After starting & pulling it all apart a couple of times cause i was attempting ribbing totally wrong i finally figured it out with lots of help from some fellow NC'ers (thanks girls!!!). So, i know its boring for everyone else, but I'm excited - check it out, 10 rows of actual ribbing!!!

& an up close shot - you can actually see the ribs - wow!

(really doesn't take much to excite me does it :)

Yummy Fruit & Nut Balls

Found some pretty cheap dates at harris farm yesterday so thought id make some fruit & nut balls. We have one of those compact juicers which makes it easy, i just stuck dates & walnuts through it with the special nozzle thingy on, roll it in balls & then in coconut!
