GDUNH - 66 Icons Found - Yippee!!!

Ive found my 66th GDUNH icon - hooray!!! no extreme sites but thats good enough for me. few...now i can have my nights back (so i can chat on nappycino, watch tv & pet my panda on face book) lol!

& just cause i love putting pics in heres a pic of jet from tonight & the mess around him is whats left of his brussle sprouts. hes still not really much into his solids, doesnt want anything he cant feed himself, so i just give him stuff on his tray & he mushes it every where & hopefully gets some in his mouth (found some in his ear - its a start!).

This is jet at the start of the night, all bright & happy! you can see his two bottom front teeth in this pic, they came through when he was about 7.5 months. The top two front ones started to show through that night - great timing!!!

& my poor little crashed out bubba at 9.30 just before we left daddy to party the night away (yep, we took the ergo to the wedding - couldnt convince DH that i need to buy one in more formal colours for such occasions):

Home, Messy Home!

Were back from hols, actually im a little slack, we have been back for a couple of days now. The house looks like a bomb hit it. My parents stayed here for a couple of days while we were gone cause they were sanding their floor (or something), & no, they weren't the ones that made it all messy. When we got home it was sparkling clean, i couldn't put my finger on it but something just looked different. Of course that feeling only lasted a couple of minutes till all the couches & available bench space got stacked with everything that was previously squished into our car.

Anyway, theres loads of half dry washing all over the place now. Come on sunshine!!! i just need one scorcher to get everything dry & packed away so i can walk through my living room without tripping over things while trying to avoid other things.

Today jet & i got up at 7.30am. I tried to get him to have a sleep at 9.30, & he finally fell asleep at 10. woke up at 10.30 & i was stubborn & decided he was going to go back to sleep (30 mins really is a ridiculous sleep for a bub), so i finally got him to go back to sleep at 11.50 & he actually slept for 2 hours which is almost unheard off in this house. but its a real sanity tester spending 1.5 hours trying to get a baby to sleep for 2.5 (& there wasn't even any chocolate in the house, normally thats my saviour!

Im totally addicted to face book at the moment, & ive still got 26 icons to find in the GDUNH so if im not posting youll know what im up to!

Oh, & one more thing, i got all my hair chopped off, so now its really short. Ill put a pic up eventually. Wow a whole post without pics? whats the world coming to!

Holiday Update

Hi All,

Just thought id stop in & say we are having a fab holiday!!! First we stopped in at coffs cause i wanted to see the natural baby expo. It was quite small & lots of the stands i wouldnt really class as natural, more just baby but it was good to see. There were a couple of stands that had cloth nappies on them so ofcourse i stopped to chat nappies for a while.

We had a great time in coffs, only had 2 days there but it was funpacked! We went to the big bananna - heres the proof:

Then we went on a whale watch cruise which was unreal! we saw lots of dolphins & two massive whales came right up under the boat, one of them turned upside down then stuck his head up above the water to check us out.

We also went to check out the pet porpise pool which was great fun. We got to play ball with the dolphins

& we got kisses from dolphins & seals

all great stuff! anyway, we are in byron now, just relaxing. we went for a walk up near the light house today.We got to see a whole pod of dolphins surfin the waves & some more whales (not the same as seeing them upclose!!!). We also went to the local growers markets wich was great. Cant wait till the markets this weekend. Anyway, thats it for now.

We're Off!!!

Just thought id let you all know that we are off on holidays for the next 12 days (so no blogging for me!). Were going to be driving up to Byron + stopping in at Coffs on the way for the Natural Baby Expo.

Cant wait to have a nice relaxing holiday in the hippie central of Australia! YAY!!!!!

Another Longies Update

Ok, well...im not really sure that these longies will be overly successful, but it is my first attempt after all. Ive finished one of the legs, just got to do the other one now. Theres still a circular needle in the unfinished leg in the pic just in case you were wondering what it was, oh & theres a baby in there too ;)

So here is the list of problems im facing:

• There is a hole in the crotch on the completed leg side that i was holding out hope of just kinda hiding by tightening other stitches around it, but im not sure that will work
• i was only meant to have 38 stitches per leg but then it asked me to pick up one so i had 39 which i only realised half way down the leg so i decreased one stitch at some random point
• at the bottom your meant to do k2p2 ribbing but i dont have the right number of stitches to do it evenly so i just added on a 1/2 inch & left it at stockingette stitch so it can roll up a bit
• i obviously dont know how to cast off when knitting in the round cause it left a kinda funny bit at the end
• i didnt count my rows so the legs will probably end up different lengths
• i used 4mm needles to do the body bit & i just realised im using 3.75mm for the legs, .25mm cant make that much difference right?!?
• & last but not least the legs are kinda too skinny & the bum is kinda too fat

think thats it, apart from that everything is going quite well i think!

Baby Beehind Magic-All's are here!!!

My Baby Beehind Magic-Alls arrived - YAY!!! They are nice & compact, great for the nappy bag!

Here they are:

1 got 2 x Medium (blue & purple) & 2 x Large (orange & green). The larges wont fit Jet just yet, they are meant to fit from 11kg & he is about a hundred grams shy of 10kg.

& a pic of my babies beehind (lol - can you tell im one of those people that laughs at their own unfunny jokes!)
Good fit!
& just cause this one was cute i had to put it in...well technically it could be an action shot, you can still see a snippet of the nappy ; )

oh & if your wondering why his hair is all funny its cause i took the pics last night just after his bath.

Busy Bee

Ive been very busy today! First of all i had to get the overlocker out to make some more hemp trifold inserts cause we are going up to Byron for almost 2 weeks soon & i figure that the pockets dry super quick but inserts take forever so if we have twice as many inserts we should be right. So here they are (not very interesting):

Then i looked over at my disaster zone of a knitting basket:

It made me think of a pattern id seen in a book im reading, the stitch & bitch handbook (fantastic book by the way!!!). No, its not a knitting pattern, its for a needle holder! So i had a dig through the massive pile of material ive managed to accumulate. Your meant to use heavy weight material, like upholstery stuff or something, which i didnt have, the best i could do was some flannelet & some cotton drill so i just doubled up a bit here & there. Anyway, heres some pics. The inside with the flap down:

When i was all finished i realised i have lots of little things that need storing too, like stitch counters, stitch markers, that thing that measures what size needle your using etc. So i figured id stick some pockets on the front flappy bit. They are attached with snaps so i can pull them off if i want (not that i know why i would want to) & they do up with snaps too - well...what would a sewing day be without getting the snap press out! So here is the end result:

& hey presto - a tidy knitting basket!!!

...but unfortunately the house is now a total wreck

oh well, a mothers work is never done ; )

Longies Update

Im attempting the Little Turtle Knits Longies pattern & i thought id share my progress. The pattern calls for short rows to be inserted in the butt area, which i had no idea how to do, so i am very proud that i have actually accomplished them without any holes, although you can tell where they are...but i am a beginner after all ;)

hmmmm, just realised that i think i actually wanted to knit the picky pants pattern not the longies one...oh well, theres always next time!!!
