OK, well...today we had a 12 hour blackout! FUN!!! I didn't have a car either cause DH was at work & we only have one, so I couldn't even go spend all his hard earned money at the shops!!!
Anyway, the blackout finally gave me the courage to start on the honeyboy nappy Ive been planning to make. I bought the pattern a while ago but Ive been to scared to do anything with it. So today i cut the pattern out & cut out some of the material. I cut the inner layer of flannelet, the hidden layer of PUL (which isn't in the pattern - I'm breaking the rules already!) & the outer layer of micro-fleece. I also cut out 5 layers of microfiber for the booster & the 2 coordinating layers of flannelet for the booster as well & the deco-tabs.
So its a start. Now i need to figure out what to use as the inner layer (that apparently stabilises the nappy? think I'm meant to use nappy flannel - is that different to normal flannel?) and a couple more layers for the absorbent bit maybe, I'm considering a layer of hemp but I'm not sure just yet cause I don't want it to take to long to dry.
Anyway, cause i love pictures, heres what Ive done so far:
I got the PUL (the white layer) from bubba earth & I love it as a hidden layer, it looks a little rubbery but its so easy to sew!
The power finally came back on tonight at about 10 so Ive been fulfilling the urge Ive had to chat on NC all day today! oh, & now i have to put the washing through the machine again cause the power went out half way through - not that i can hang it on the line anyway, its still pissing down!

The blackout made me wonder what mums that bottle feed do, especially if they have electric stove tops - must make it hard to sterilise all your bottles & warm up formula. Just one more reason why breastfeeding rules!!!
